Pebbly Range Limousin stud was formed in 1998 after the division of the Koolmurra herd, of which I was a principal. Koolmurra was established in 1990 on Aznavour, Chateau, Kensal and Lloyds bloodlines.
In addition to breeding stud Limousins for the beef production industry, I also provide three quarter Limousin grain-finished quality calves for private beef orders. These are processed by and picked up from a local butcher in Lobethal.
Pebbly Range Limousins is located at Rockleigh in South Australia, and is 35 km west of Murray Bridge, midway to Mount Pleasant. It is in an 18" rainfall area, which consists of rugged rocky terrain. The pastures are largely native.
Using both AI and natural mating, Pebbly Range is breeding docile French Pure and poll animals with moderate frame score and the ability to finish at a young age. The herd has been selected for robust constitutions, doing ability, and ease of calving. As the property is in 3 sections, which are 6 km apart, the herd does a lot of walking, and they have to calve largely unsupervised. Cull heifers are not sold on as breeders.
